Salkantay Lodge Experience – 5 Days

Experience one of Peru’s most spectacular trekking routes on our 5-day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu, combining breathtaking Andean landscapes, challenging mountain trails, and comfortable lodge accommodation along the way.
This carefully designed adventure takes you from the high-altitude Salkantay Pass and its impressive snow-capped mountain scenery through changing landscapes, lush valleys, cloud forests, and finally into the tropical surroundings of Machu Picchu.
Unlike a traditional camping trek, this version of the Salkantay Trail allows you to enjoy the adventure while staying in comfortable lodges along the route, giving you a warm and relaxing place to rest after each day of hiking.
What Makes This Trek Special?
- Salkantay Pass: Reach approximately 4,630 m / 15,190 ft, surrounded by spectacular views of the Salkantay Mountain.
- Dramatic landscape changes: Experience high mountains, turquoise lagoons, valleys, cloud forests, and tropical vegetation during the same journey.
- Lodge accommodation: Rest in comfortable lodges instead of traditional camping, making the trek a more comfortable experience.
- Authentic Andean experience: Walk through remote communities and lesser-visited areas of the Andes while learning about the local culture and environment.
- Machu Picchu: Finish your adventure with a guided visit to the legendary Inca citadel.
- Small-group experience: Enjoy a more personal trekking experience with professional guides and attentive service from our team.
What to Expect
The Salkantay Trek is a challenging high-altitude trek and requires a good level of fitness. The first days involve significant elevation gain and long hiking hours, particularly around the Salkantay Pass. As you descend, the environment changes dramatically, with warmer temperatures and greener landscapes.
The lodge accommodation provides an important advantage: after a demanding day on the trail, you can relax, recover, and prepare for the next day’s adventure without having to set up or sleep in a traditional tent.
Who Is This Trek For?
This trek is ideal for travelers who want to experience the spectacular Salkantay route but prefer the comfort of lodge accommodation instead of camping. It is particularly suitable for travelers looking for a balance between adventure, nature, culture, and comfort.
